My First Coco Coir Grow - Budget Edition
What's up guys! This is going to be an exciting but also challenging grow, as this is my first time working with coco coir. Not only am I diving into coco for the first time, but I'm also doing this the way most home growers operate—on a budget. No fancy equipment here, just the basics, and I'll be documenting this entire journey with you.
The Setup
Let's start with the grow space. I'm working with a 2x2 Spider Farmer grow tent tucked inside a closet, running a Spider Farmer SF1000D light. Budget growing at its finest, right?
As of today, my seed has been germinating in a 3-gallon fabric pot filled with a 70/30 coco-to-perlite mix. For nutrients, I'm running the full Cronk Nutrients Bonnie and Clyde lineup. These have treated me well on my last few autoflower runs, so I'm sticking with what works.
Why Coco Coir?
I've been wanting to try hydroponics, but with my limited space, a full hydro setup felt like too much to manage. From what I've researched, growing in coco coir can produce killer results when done right—it's like a bridge between soil and hydro. So this grow is either going to be a great success or an even better learning experience.
Either way, I'd love your feedback along the way. Drop your tips, questions, or advice in the comments. Hopefully we can all learn from each other as this grow progresses.
